Mr. Liu Jianchao et al visit Jinan University

A delegation headed by Mr. Liu Chaoyang, vice president of Chang’an University had a visit to our university. Mr. Ye Qin, vice president of our university received the delegation and had a symposium with the guests.

Mr. Ye Qin delivered an introduction to the history, salient features, and programs design of our university. Also, heads of the Department of Teaching Affairs, library and the dean of College of Education had discussions with Mr. Liu Jianchao on daily teaching affairs administration, administration of undergraduate practice teaching, undergraduate teaching quality and control, library management, the construction of resources and services etc.

David Joseph Maria Weenink invited to be the visiting professor of JNU

Mr. Joseph Maria Weenink was employed as the visiting professor of our university on March 23rd. Mr. Jiang Shuzhuo, vice president of our university conferred a letter of employment to Mr. Weenink.

Mr. Jiang extended sincere welcome and heartfelt thanks to Mr. Weenink on behalf of the whole university, and he said that Mr. Weenink’s coming would turn a new page to the linguistics studies of Jinan University, and it was a milestone event and signified another new beginning to the academic exchange between the University of Amsterdam and Jinan University.

Mr. Weenink graduated in 1971 from the Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen. As one of the designers of the most popular PRAAT software, he currently holds a post in the Institute of Phonetic Sciences of the University of Amsterdam. Replica Handbags

5 professors elected members of the National Steering Committee of professional education of master

On the members’congress and 4th and 5th Conference of the Guangdong Pressure Vessel Society held in our university, Mr. Liu Renhuai was re-elected as the director of the society, and Mr. Wang was elected as the deputy director and secretary general.

The member of the new council includs specialists from tiertary institutes, famous chemical engineering companies, and pressure vessel testing institutes etc.

Australian New South Wales Education Delegation Visiting Jinan University

Invited by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, an Australian New South Wales delegation consisting of officials in the education sector and principals pay a week-long visit to Guangzhou. On January 11, the delegation visited Jinan University and College of Chinese Language and Culture at Jinan(CCLC).

The 9-person delegation is headed by Ms. Xu Yi, President of Australian Association for the Promotion of Chinese Education. CCLC attached great importance to the opportunity to exchange with the Australian peers. In view of the language problem, in addition to staff members from Overseas Teaching Office and Admission Office, CCLC arranged a translator to facilitate communication at the meeting. Both parties gave a brief introduction and talks were held on potential cooperations, such as developing Chinese education, training post-graduates majoring in teaching Chinese as a second language, student exchange, as well as internships.

During their stay, the delegation visited the campus of Jinan and CCLC. Despite the cold weather, the group was impreesed by the beautiful environment. At CCLC, the delegation also visited Lab for Chinese Teaching, Multi-Media Room, Storage Room and praised the specialities of CCLC.

Mr. Wu Jihuai et al visit our university

A delegation from Huaqiao University headed by Mr. Wu Jihuai, vice president paid visit to our university on January 29, 30 to have a study on the development of the Medical College of our university.

Mr. Lu Daxiang gave an introduction on the history and the profile of the College to the visitors. Mr. Luo Huanmin and Mr. Wang Donghua, principals of the Medical College delivered introduction on staff training, program construction, input and expenditure, laboratory constructions, etc.

Professor Ole Holger Petersen Visiting Jinan University

On January 13th, 2011, Professor Ole Holger Petersen，Deputy Director of British Royal Society, member of British Royal Academy of Sciences, Dean of School of Life Science at Cardiff University visited Jinan University.

Prof. LUO Huanmin, Dean of Medical School and Prof. ZHENG Wenjie, Director of Graduate Affairs Office met Prof. Petersen. They had a fruitful discussion and reached an initial agreement on setting up ”Jinan-Cardiff Joint Base for Scientific Research and Graduate Education”.

After the meeting, Prof. Lu Daxiang,Vice President of JNU conferred Prof.Petersen with Jinan “Honorary Professorship”. Prof. Petersen expressed his gratitude and expectation for a successful partnership with JNU.

Later on, Prof. Petersen gave a lecture on “Recent Changes in Assessment and Funding for Biomedical Research in Europe and UK”.

Cardiff University, with Prince Charles as its Chancellor, is a world famous university. Prof. Ole Holger Petersen is a well-known scientist. He is the chairman of The Biological Sciences Panel for the UK Government’s Research Excellence Framework. In 2008, he was awarded Commander of the Order by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to science.

German Professor Stasch Visiting Jinan University

Professor Johannes-Peter Stasch was invited by the First Clinical Medical College of Jinan University for a visit which last 2 days from 2010 Nov.15 to 16. Professor Stasch had a visit on the Institutes of Life and Health Engineering, Biomedicine Research and Development Center, Medical Experimental & Research Center of School of Medicine, and the first Affiliated Hospital. He presented a lecture on “Drug Development and Innovative Thinking” and had discussion with researchers in the university. Prof. Huang Li, Dean of the College and Prof. Luo LiangPing, Prof. Zhao ChangYing from the Department of Scientific Research and Teaching Affairs met with Prof. Stasch and discussed on the scientific research cooperation between the two sides.

About Professor Johannes-Peter Stasch: He is a professor in Pharmacology at University of Halle-Wittenberg, Germany and Chief scientist in Cardiovascular Research, Bayer Schering Pharma AG. He holds Ph.D. of Pharmacology and Inorganic Chemistry. His research projects include drug development in the fields of central nervous system and cardiovascular diseases. He has published more than 110 papers on leading journals including Nature、Nature Rev Drug Discovery、Nature Med、J Clin Invest、Circulation、Mol Pharmacol, and got 150 patents.

Unveiling Ceremory of Photo Exhibition“Israel in Chinese’s Eyes” Held at JNU

On the morning of Nov. 23, 2010, the unveiling ceremony of photo exhibition “Israel in Chineses’ Eyes” was held in the library of Jinan Univeristy. This exhibition was organized by the Consulate General of Israel in Guangzhou and Jinan University. Mr. Avraham Nir, Consul General and Prof. Ji Zong’an，former Vice President of JNU co-hosted the unveiling ceremony. The exhibition lasted from Nov. 23 to Dec. 3. Mrs. Iris Nir, Consul for Cultural and Tourism affairs, Mr. Li Lijia, Deputy Director of International Affairs Office attended the ceremony.

Jinan University is the first university for this touring exhibition in universities sponsored by the Consulate General of Israel in Guangzhou. The works shown on the exhition were taken by Mr. Liu Yuan, a noted Chinese Photographer, while he was travelling in Israel. The photos demostrated natural scenary, social lives and Jewish culture in Israel. Prof. Ji Zong’an and Mr. Nir congratulated on the success of the exhibition and expressed their wishes for more and closer communications and exchanges between the two sides in the future.
